Introducing Cox Conserves
For the past 15 years, we’ve been working hard to drive positive environmental change and become a more sustainable company through our Cox Conserves programme.
We know that our businesses and partners around the world are doing some amazing work around the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through Cox Conserves, we seek to bring all those initiatives together to make them work harder for us and our communities.
Every contribution counts on our journey to make our mark and build a better future, together.
Our commitments
We have three clear, measurable goals and one aspiration. These align with 10 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and act as our focus when it comes to new project development.
We are already making great strides towards our goals to be zero waste and water and carbon neutral. And we are putting real financial investment behind new technologies and solutions to the world’s environmental problems.
However, this is only the start of the journey.

Progress and impact
We’ve already…
- Diverted more than 250,000 tonnes of waste from landfill
- Offset more than 650,000 tonnes of carbon, including receiving an offset certificate for the Manheim HGV fleet
- Reduced water usage by more than 295m gallons
- And invested more than $116m in sustainability and conservation projects
Globally, we are set to reach zero waste to landfill by 2024. But, in the UK and Europe, we have already beaten that target.
We are partnering with carbon credit schemes to offset our operations. However, we believe the most sustainable way to reduce carbon is by minimising the energy we consume, increasing reliance on renewable energy, and investing in carbon reduction projects. For almost a decade, we’ve been investing in projects which generate energy from solar, wind, pyrolysis and other clean energy solutions.
Where to next?
So, where do we go from here? We’ve achieved a lot in the past 10 years and have strong ambitions for the next decade. We’d like you to be a part of that journey too.
We will continue to…
- Set, monitor and report on yearly environmental objectives
- Invest in onsite and offsite renewable technology
- Roll out ISO 14001 across our European businesses
- Support Cox Conserves representatives across all UK and European teams and locations
- Work together to create positive environmental change in our communities
We continue on our journey to transform the way the world buys, sells, owns and uses vehicles. And we do so in the context that we are stewards of the world we live in – with a responsibility to our people, our customers, and our communities.
