Cox Automotive has chosen Make-A-Wish as its primary charity for 2021 and is announcing a series of events on World Wish Day (29th April) to raise vital funds for the charity.

The first of two events already planned ties in with the centenary celebrations of its Manheim auctions and vehicle services brand in the UK. All team members have been asked to set themselves a personal challenge revolving around the number 100. This could be anything from a sponsored event to perform 100 push-ups, to a 100-minute sponsored silence.

The second event sees the launch of the company’s “Climb Every Mountain” initiative, held this year on Friday 25th June. This year, the initiative will see Cox Automotive team members across the International business – including Australia, Canada as well as Europe, raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation by walking 24,000 steps in 24 hours.

Peter Bell, Chief Operating Officer, Cox Automotive Europe said: “As a family-owned company, it’s great to see our passion for doing the right thing seen by all team members working to support their local communities.

“All our team members are incredibly excited to be part of a joint international effort to support the charity, becoming a #WishHero and holding their own fundraising activities, where plenty of activities and achievements will be seen.

“Some of our team members at Cox Automotive have received support from the charity in the past, so it’s great that we can give a little back to support the tremendous work that that the organisation does, enabling Make-A-Wish to continue carrying out as many wishes as possible for critically-ill children.”

The company has already raised £3,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2021, the same amount required to grant two wishes for a critically ill child. The company held a charity raffle at its virtual employee awards ceremony in January and aims to build on this throughout this year and into 2022, so that the charity can grant as many wishes as possible.

Peter Bell added: “Our staff are all committed to serving their local communities, raising money for charity, and helping others. It’s embedded into our company culture and we have a long history of team members raising money for charities close to their hearts.”

Make-A-Wish Foundation supports critically ill children by granting every child a wish to inspire them to look beyond their condition, and enable them to look forward to something, create incredible memories and bring happiness. The charity relies on fundraising by companies such as Cox Automotive to raise essential funds.
