Our latest Insight Report

The automotive sector is undergoing its most significant era of change in the past 50 years. The true impact of the changing retail landscape and the shift towards zero-emission vehicles has continued to emerge in 2023.

There’s a lot happening, so staying abreast of the latest trends and thinking has never been more crucial. Once again Cox Automotive has collaborated with Grant Thornton to produce our annual Insight Report, providing a comprehensive look at the most important trends and topics influencing automotive today.

Despite the volatility and complexity of today’s automotive market, the future is exciting and packed with opportunity. The market we knew pre-pandemic is behind us but there’s plenty to be optimistic about and in this report, we set out why.

Martin Forbes, President, Cox Automotive International

What’s in the report?

The future of automotive retail
The behaviours, attitudes and strategies of OEMs, retailers and consumers are changing irreversibly in automotive. As well as analysing the impact of the agency model on both the new and used car markets in the UK and Europe, we will review three key challenges faced by dealers to give a rounded view of what lies ahead for automotive retail.
Making sustainability more sustainable
Automotive is in the eye of a transformational storm. Chief among the drivers is the global climate change fight and the urgent need for industries to decarbonise. We’ll look at EVs, their rise and the effect they are having on the industry and supply chains. We also ask questions about the all-important component at the centre of automotive sustainability: the battery.
The Cox Automotive forecast
It’s more important than ever to know where the market is heading in order to make confident business decisions. To help, we will reveal our latest new and used car forecasts, including a deep dive into predicted 2024 performance and a look ahead at what the next two, five and ten years could have in store.
